A reading/wellness experience for the whole family to enjoy. For decades, the Akron-Summit Count Public Library’s annual reading program has made summer reading fun in all of our Library locations.
Now we’re bringing Mind, Body & Sole to day care centers, summer camp programs, senior activity centers, and senior residence communities through our pilot program--Mind, Body & Sole: Read At Your Own Place. Activity Directors and Camp Counselors: call your local library for details.
Summer readers, be sure to visit the Library often this summer for everyone’s favorite reading/exercise experience, Mind, Body & Sole: Read At Your Own Pace. Register at your nearest Akron-Summit County Public Library beginning June 8 and receive your Mind, Body, & Sole reading/exercise log and pedometer. From June 8-August 8, check off each day you read for 30 minutes on your reading log. As you reach reading milestones, you’ll be rewarded with fun incentives and be entered into drawings for great prizes.
Choose to be active also! Run/walk at least 26 miles (or 52,000 pedometer steps) over that same period of time. If a pedometer cannot record your movement activity, log ½ hour of activity as one mile. Record your fitness accomplishment on your exercise log. When you have reached 26 miles AND read 26 days, you will receive a Mind, Body & Sole T-shirt and have the chance to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing on August 24.
