Division Manager

Location: Special Collections Division - Main Library
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours), including evening and weekend hours, not job-share-eligible
Salary: Grade 15, $27.51/hour


Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties as related to the management of the Special Collections Division. Responsible for providing direction, motivation and supervision to staff and participation in the selection process for staff. Develops and oversees procedures for agency services and routines. Maintains a high level of customer service in the Division; maintains awareness of current trends and developments in local history and genealogy subject areas; coordinates relevant activities with other library agencies, develops and maintains relationships and collaborates with community organizations; oversees the planning and implementation of programs and services; markets materials and services; provides reader’s advisory and reference service to customers; and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proven aptitude in professional library science, preferably in a public library setting, including a knowledge of archival practices, reference sources, reader interest levels, and materials in local history and genealogy subject areas; demonstrated supervisory and management skills; ability to assess customer interests and needs and develop services and programs accordingly; excellent customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to think and work independently; ability to speak and write effectively; and sound professional judgment. A Master of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of Library and Information Science and extensive professional public library experience are required. Previous management experience, Ohio Public Librarian Certification and subject area expertise preferred.
