About the Division

Located on the 2nd floor of Main Library, Culture & AV is the busiest division of the library. The Culture & AV division offers a wide variety of entertainment options and cultural information.

The library’s collection of novels, including mysteries and science fiction, books on the arts, music, sports and film, are all part of Culture & AV.  An extensive collection of DVD’s and Blu-Rays cover the entire history of the movies, from silent and foreign classics to the latest box office hits.

A vast selection of CD’s, including classical, jazz, country, world music, and pop hits are a popular part of our services. Looking for an audio book? Browse our extensive selection of both fiction and non-fiction audio books.

The library’s in-depth collection of books on religion, language, travel, crafts, games, and antiques and collectibles rounds out the collection.

Engaging and exciting programming for everyone is a signature of the Culture & AV division. The Main Event Speaker Series features prominent voices from the worlds of literature, the arts, politics and journalism. Past speakers include Eve Ensler, Chuck Klosterman, Augusten Burroughs, Amy Sedaris, Colum McCann, Gary Shteyngart, David Giffels, and Chuck D.

Other programs include the weekly Thursday free film series Movies@Main, monthly book clubs and poetry hours, as well as two annual tournaments for crossword puzzle and Sudoku enthusiasts.
